Working Conditions
Every day workers are systematically abused in the garments industry.
In April 2013 a factory in Bangladesh collapsed killing more than 1,100 garment workers. This factory manufactured clothes for many large brands including Primark, Next and GAP. Prior to the collapse cracks appeared in the building, and workers begged to be able to leave the factory. They were told to stay in or lose their jobs. They lost a lot more besides.
That brings the total of people killed in Bangladesh’s clothing industry alone to 1834, in recent years. Whilst workers are trying to fight for better conditions
This distressing imagery of people being found holding each other before dying in the Bangladesh factory collapse. After numerous times, they asked if they could leave the damaged building, then being told they would lose their job if they walked out for safety.
