OUGD503 Studio Brief 1 - Secret 7 - John Lennon - Development

War or peace
The Concept of this cover is to embrace what John Lennon tried influencing, Which was world peace. The peace Symbol became hugely recognised over that era so even though it's an obvious representation of peace it was a clear symbol that was spread throughout the world during his life.

Starting with the basic visual of approaching a John Lennon vinyl this was by the use of shape an symbolic representation of ‘peace’ which was designed as the logo for the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. For experimentation I want to incorporate a mix media effect into the outcome of the sleeves to communicate each time period, and how graphics were printed in the 70’s to today's digital printing.

The idea of this design was to involve shape and the CND logo, The circular shape representing earth for the concept behind the design was 'world peace' something John Lennon tried embracing. Developing it further to make it more recognisable which was by introducing land. Seeing as it was my first development it wasn't as effective as I thought, it became too detailed an overwhelming rather than simplistic

Peace Catcher
The idea of this concept was to involve elements which spoke for themselves, for example the CND logo is situated within the dream catcher allowing both visuals to come together which formed 'peace catcher'. Which goes back to John Lennon's ambition.

When constructing this idea I took the time to photograph a dream catcher. After gathering necessary resources I then took the image into photoshop and 'Image traced' it to get a bold outline of the object. After doing so I began to play around with the arrangement.

Doves are thought to be a symbol of peace. A pair of doves is believed to be a symbol of love and fidelity. So from the information gathered it came to my attention that peace, love and fidelity would be a great way of visually communicating world peace through the use of doves.
