OUGD405 Studio Brief 1 Design Process - Backing paper Final Outcome

From the Crit i was able to gather what kind of Target audience these final designs would appeal to. That being somewhere like urban outfitters because of the humour and the elements used within each poster.

When printing out these posters it came to my attention that the colours used weren't as they looked on the screen, being slightly washed away. So from there i will be more careful with the printing making sure its on the correct setting.
It was said that it would of been nice to have made a more unisex poster, not only appealing to males.
Overall i was happy with the feedback knowing my designs were relevant as a lot of people had involved a lot of shape where as i didn't.
The visuals i was trying to communicate was clear to others such as approaching the modern side to designing.

OUGD405 Studio Brief 1 Design Process - Backing paper development

The Generation of today

I took some time looking at people seeing how they look, how they dress and if they own piercings tattoos etc.
It came to my attention a lot of people have long beards, tattoos and piercings tending to wear snapback hat also.
so from visually going looking into different styled people i began to start developing in illustrator what was most common.
I wanted to be humorous within the designs i created so by placing type allowed me to express the kind of humour i was approaching.

This is mainly an unconstructed face placing individual elements to create a obvious visual, such as i haven't placed ears and a nose within the design but replacing the nose with the A, just to make it more unique.
Ive kept it simple by using black and sandy colours as i wanted to approach a more modern style specially with the vector imagery. I've typically used the aviators only because they are a common choice of glasses wear & the fact that beards go well with them. The arrows representing a neck tattoo, which is also common within the peoples image but i wasn't to keen on them.

I took a side profile picture of myself and created an outline of my head, the only things which i added in was the beard and the geometric neck tattoo, as i already had the sun glasses on, I believe that this is a fashionable look to have at the moment. I don't want this to just appeal to people with beards, so by placing type into the designs allowed it to become a more obviously directed backing paper design and also being a widely appealing purchase for the majority, for example buying it for a friend as a personal joke as well as the frame itself.

Geometric Nature Design

From looking at geometric shapes gave me an overall theme idea which was looking into nature itself but giving it a more hidden meaning,  for viewers to try and figure out what the shapes they represent.
at first I wanted to approach geometric shapes as tattoo designs simply because i am highly interested in them

I've gave myself limitations within each design such as only using lines, a screwed up piece of paper as texture and a low opacity colour of the appropriate occurrence.

OUGD405 Studio Brief 1 Design Process - Backing paper Research

I've always had a keen interest in shapes being placed over the top of photos of nature, it having a calm emotional view towards the Image. The use the of composition, multiplied layers and colour is very attractive inspiring me to create a similar approach, Because our posters have to be based around shapes i thought it would of been a better idea  to place imagery or intercept the imagery I've gathered within the shapes.

I find the shape circle to be a peaceful visual that represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, eternity and all cyclic movement giving off that instant comfortable emotion. I like the placed ocean within this image placing fewer colours over the top such as the peach & red, using half circles to formally create a whole circle almost

The fact it communicates instantly to me that the sky and the ocean reflect off one another but has been made obvious by swapping them around,

I like how each circle has been multiplied and placed to a low opacity allowing the texture from behind to come into effect, the composition of this design is very appealing to me as the typography has been given room to breath
